20 Gift Books for Makers, Artists, Cooks, and Creatives

I love books. The thing is I find that I don’t buy them for myself, but rather add them to digital or handwritten ‘wishlists’, passing them on to friends and family for special occasions like birthdays and Christmas.

The collection below are largely books I personally own, with a few I’ve added to my ever growing wishlist.

They’ve been a great resource to me as a multi-disciplined creative and are recommendations for the maker, artist, cook and creatives in your life. Continue Reading

Make It: Diy Ikea Hacked Plant Stand

I love this Ikea hack! This delightful little house plant stand was put together using a bookshelf and the legs of an inexpensive Ikea Frösta stool. While the author sprayed it with a ombre finish I think it would look equally nice left raw or sprayed white. Detailed instructions on how to make your own are below.

Weeknight Meals: Basil, Bacon & Feta Fritatta

Basil, Bacon & Feta Fritatta

One of the things I enjoy about eggs is their amazing ability to hold things together. Frittas are a case in point, super easy to make, usually with left overs, set in whisked eggs. The perfect early dinner. To beef it up a bite I cooked it with bacon, hash & onions. A quick meal to have on the table in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients
Serves 4

  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 tbs of fresh basil (finely chopped)
  • 3 tbs of grated Parmesan
  • 1/2 tsp of salt & 1/4 tsp of black pepper
  • 6 rashers of bacon
  • 1 lb of potatoes (cut into bite sized pieces)
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup of Feta
  • 2 spring onions (diced)
  • 2 cups of fresh arugula
