I can only imagine that this project is a labor of love, since each piece of scrap felt has to be individually wrapped and glued around (and around and around) itself. This is one of those makeovers that make you look twice–or maybe a dozen times. Sarah transformed foam interlocking mats, like the ones pictured above into the floral mat pictured below.
Here’s what Sarah used to create her masterpiece:
primary foam mats
acrylic paint (for the graphics)
satin polyurethane to seal it up
After a month of use, Sarah says the mat is holding up perfectly, but she does anticipate a bit of cracking in the paint here and there, which, she is sure, ‘will add to the charm and age of the mat.’ Continue Reading
