So, we live in a townhome right now that is covered with really awesome wall-to-wall carpeting. And by “awesome” I mean “nasty”. We have a staircase that’s covered in this unfortunate material as well, and I’ve always wanted to rip it up and see what’s going on under there. Here’s your pat stairway in new construction. Beige, brown, white, bleh! Nothing that stands out, right? Whether it was an impulsive move or well thought out, this was one bold move in my opinion.

Looking down onto her front porch, Jennifer had an epiphany. “It’s July,” she observed, “but that’s a Halloween-themed welcome mat.” So, she grabbed some paint and got to work.
The results? A fun and playful welcome mat that spans the divide between handmade and standing up to the elements. Using some soft fabric paint, she created a bold border, then used an embroidery pattern to give the whole thing some character.
