Urban jungle fever is still going strong in the design world, and I don’t mind one bit!
From hanging air plants in every way imaginable, to covering a room with plants of all sizes, this decorating trend has us all “bringing the outdoors in” in ever-inspiring ways.
To pay tribute to the uncontested queen of stunning indoor plants, the monstera deliciosa, also known as the split-leaf philodendron, I created this embroidered monstera leaf art print. Continue Reading
While I like to dream about becoming a skilled gardener someday, the reality is I have a terrible brown thumb and I kill most plants I touch. I think a lot of my garden woes have to do with inattentiveness though – I forget to water my leafy friends, fertilise them, or do anything that might come close to caring for them. Terrible right?
So I decided to make up a planner to track my plant care, watch seedling growth, monitor pests and plan out my garden beds. Continue Reading
For some reason or another I’m obsessed with contact paper. Maybe it’s because it’s an easy way to transform objects, walls, anything really. It might be because shelf liner is cheap, or maybe it’s the renter in me that loves how temporary it is. Whatever the case, it’s a fact that I love vinyl. And it’s a fact that I love to DIY, which is how this customized vinyl wall decal came to be.
There are lots of resources online and in stores where you can buy vinyl wall decals, but for the picky people out there (ahem, me) who like a challenge, it’s easy to make your own. Continue Reading
Hello, and happy Valentine’s Day! Okay, it’s not quite the big day yet, but February 14th is just days away, and I’m totally ready to celebrate. Ever since the Christmas holiday ended, I’ve been itching for an excuse to decorate, party, craft – whatever! I wanted to make some cards featuring some of my favorite gals throughout history (some are good, some are bad!), and the captions kind of wrote themselves after that. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to start making plans. Nothing screams Valentine’s Day quite like conversation hearts. They’re colorful, they’re graphic, and they say something (sorta) meaningful in ten characters or less. But, they taste kinda icky, so this year, I’m combing the classic conversation heart with something we all actually want to eat: chocolate.
Not only is this approach budget-friendly, but it’s a very simple project that you can easily customize for your Valentine, no matter your level of experience with crafting. Continue Reading
Usually at the end of the year, I'm left thinking: “Holy cow – that was fast! How has another year gone by already??” That's not the case this year, which is rare. These past twelve months have felt pretty long, and I'm totally ready to switch gears and hop into 2018 mode. I'm looking forward to welcoming in another new year, and to celebrate, I'm sharing with you this New Years printable game called The Envelope Game. Continue Reading
I literally never remember to purchase gift tags at Christmastime – and I’m not using the term “literally” for extra drama here. I actually cannot recall a single time I’ve ever picked up gift tags at the store, put them in my shopping basket, and taken them to the register to check out. What usually ends up happening when I’m wrapping presents is I realize my mistake, try to find a nice-enough piece scrap of paper, scribble the recipient’s name on the back, throw on a little Scotch tape, and call it a day. Sometimes I get sick of using the same old gift wrapping supplies every year – they just never seem to run out! Click through to see five different ways to wrap gifts using office supplies.
1. Confetti Ribbon Gift Wrap
For this one I used a small hole punch to create confetti out of different colored post it notes. Continue Reading
Ever since I built a mantel a couple of years ago, I'm always on the hunt for fun new ways to decorate it.
