If you have pets who can and will wear pet Halloween costumes, you practically owe the rest of us that spectacle of cuteness. As a longtime cat owner, I am fully aware that costumes just aren’t practical for many pets, so please, do your duty and dress up your furry friend for the rest of us to enjoy (as long as they don’t mind, of course). Remember to post lots of pictures of your pet Halloween costumes! Continue Reading
Pets. We love them, and sometimes when we’re traveling, we don’t want to leave them. Whether it’s because your boarding situation isn’t ideal, or you just can’t imagine going on a vacation without them, you want to make sure you and your dog (or cat!) are prepared for a pleasant and non-stressful road trip. I’ve hit the road a few times with this furry lady pictured here, and after a few hundred hours in the car together, we’ve learned a thing or two. Continue Reading
Have you ever seen the movie The Secret Life of Pets? The plot is pretty much spelled out in the title, but the premise is this: Pets, when left to their own devices, lead very different lives than their owners think. They have different identities, different interests, and get into all sorts of dramatic situations. The movie is basically Toy Story, but with cats and dogs instead of toys. Continue Reading
As an avid dog lover and self-proclaimed “crazy Schnauzer lady”, I always get a little too excited when I see awesome DIY projects for pets. So, you can imagine my enthusiasm (or can you? It’s pretty extreme…) for this stylish, retro-inspired dog bed created by Kathryn Ekloff from Mox & Fodder. Continue Reading
Who doesn’t want their fur-children’s furniture to match their design aesthetic? Daniel and Valeria, for one…or two, rather. They decided to make their kitty, Lambi, a bed/cubby that would blend seamlessly with their flooring. The outcome is simple yet eminently stylish.
To hear how the couple made Lambi’s new hideaway, follow this link to Hindsvik.
We love it when a small idea idea takes off and becomes a full fledged business. That’s what happened after Alice Nichols started Up Country with just six original collar designs twenty six years ago. The Rhode Island company designs and hand sews their jazzy pet products in their Rhode Island facility. From fun, colorful collars to vibrant, collapsible pet beds, they’ve taken a tiny idea and patiently worked it into an American business. Way to go Up Country, we love your style. Continue Reading

The dremel has to be one of the most adorable power tools ever. Why then is it so difficult to figure out where to use it? All those cool attachments have to be useful for something. While I’m experimenting, check out this YouTube video to learn how to professionally trim your pooch’s nails to a smooth as silk edge using your dremel.
Because of some behavioral problems, my very neurotic cat sleeps in a very large dog crate at night. It breaks my heart, as I’d much rather have her sleeping in our bed and specifically on my feet, which seems to be her preferred human body part/pillow. For any pet-parent that has to employ a crate, you know what an eyesore they can be. Crate Covers and More sells very pretty ‘slip covers’ (starting at $130) in various styles that you can pop over these jails, turning them into cozy little retreats. Continue Reading
