I received my first flower press when I turned nine years old – maybe eight? The point is it was forever ago. I got it as a birthday gift from my best friend. The flower press came with a small instructional booklet on how to collect and preserve colorful wildflowers. On the front of the press was an illustration of Anne of Green Gables, happily picking florals and putting them into a giant basket. Homemade Candy Corn Recipe.

Candy corn’s the kinda thing that divides loved one’s right down the middle. Either you hate it, or you love it. And like all good things, if you love it, you should make it. And like those very all good things, the homemade version tastes even better.

Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1/3 cup salted butter
2 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
1/3 cup powdered milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
red and yellow food coloring

Mold. It’s BAD NEWS. As well as just being gross it can do some pretty rotten things to your lungs.
Prevention is definitely the way to go, as once you’ve got mold it’s
the very devil to get rid of. Luckily, you don’t need harsh chemicals to
stop mold arriving and bringing 50 gazillion of it’s friends. Jennifer

all-natural mold prevention spray.

three drops of pure organic tea tree essential oil, pop it in a spray

Make your own CHEAP dishwashing detergent and rinse aid.

First we tackled the dryer; now we’re on to the dishwasher! Apparently, a homemade version is incredibly easy to make and cheap cheap cheap. (I found this recipe repeated on about a dozen other websites, but it’s so good, it required a Curbly appearance.)
