My wife and I will be buying a house somewhere in the near future. Whenever she asks me what kind of neighborhood I want to live in, I just say, “One within walking distance of a coffee shop.” That's my only criteria, because that's how much I love coffee. Right now we live in an apartment in a busier part of the city, so most of my coffee is to-go, and grabbed on foot. Continue Reading

I've been a vegetarian for over 13 years now, and there aren't many meat-eating rituals that I feel like I'm missing out on. I don't crave hamburgers, I don't really care for barbecuing, and carving a turkey isn't my style either. Free wishes, though…that's something I could use more of! This quick Thanksgiving decoration is as close to a wishbone as I'm getting, and after the holiday I'll be ripping a few in half so I can make a wish anyway. Continue Reading
As nursery trends change, the traditional pinks and blues are slowly being pushed out in favor of current, updated looks. Parents are experimenting more and more with bolder hues, playful patterns, or simply less of it all. It's easy to see why the minimal nursery look is gaining in popularity. There are fewer elements to worry about, there aren't any color-related gender-indicators (which makes styling ahead of time a breeze), and the color palette is almost non-existent. Continue Reading
Whenever my husband gets one of those “Scratch and Win!” things, he’s all over it with his loose change, and if he doesn’t win, he scratches off everything anyway. That’s why I can totally see him loving this DIY valentine idea.
There’s no cheesiness in this food-inspired Valentine- it is all fruit.
These fruit stickers from Twig and Thistle would be a fun surprise in a lunch sack or fruit basket on Valentine’s day.
Kathleen went all out and included nearly every fruit so none of these naturally sweet valentines would feel left out. You can get her food-safe stickers, or make your own regular fruit stickers using her great idea.
Eating healthy suddenly became that much more fun!
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and often times we are all so exhausted from the winter holidays that we neglect the holiday of love. This year I decided to decorate a bit for my kids’ sake, but I have to admit I’ve fully enjoyed having some love-filled reminders around the house. We’ve kept things simple, like the fuzzy ball garland by Anna at Noodle-head, above, and I’ve rounded up a few more simple and endearing projects for a sweet Valentine’s Day. Continue Reading
